Hi there.

I have just downloaded this program and so far it looks very promising for our needs. However, the help file talks about a demo database called 'demo.gkb' ? I can't seem to find this in the setup files anywhere. Is there somewhere I can download it, just so that I can get more of a feel for the program.

Thanks

Thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately, the export functionality is impractical in my circumstances. The category concerned comprises 93 documents. Nearly all documents contain at least one embedded PDF file and many contain multiple embedded files.

Does your development plan for GKB contain provision for addition of "move category" functionality in the future?

Kind regards,

Thanks for your interest. I do not use any specific Windows theme. Mine is a custom plain black desktop with a "sea" taskbar.

I do use Aero, but turning off that functionality does not improve my perception of the GKB font. Where I can, I usually select Tahoma font (8-11, depending on software) for my computer work-interface.

For Windows 7 I use a custom 130% text size.

Hi -
Thanks for your quick response - yes that is true I can select any style - but it doesn't do the style I would like as default when I open a new document. The default style always reverts back to Times New Roman and I have to go and select my desired style each time before starting to write my document.
I deleted the 'normal text' style option and created my own with the style I wanted and named that 'normal text', then re-started GKB - and it still reverts back to Times New Roman. Where does GKB store its default style? So that I can change it...
Or am I missing something?

Many thanks

Check boxes not appearing in Sub-Category level when assigning Topics to Categories...

Hi, I am starting to try out your program as an alternative to Lotus Agenda, which I use for building catalogues, using their strongest feature, assignment to Catergories. GKB is generally straightforward and easy to understand, congrats. But I am faqcing one problem: when I call up the Topics- Categories assignment panel, I get the Categories tree alright, but check-boxes only at the highest Categories level. no check boxes at Sub-Category level, so unable to make assignments of Topics below the top Category level. (Show Topics in Sub-Categories is checked)... Occasionally, after moving around some of the sub-categories, check-boxes start appeaing at the deeper level (so far I have only one level of indentation in Catergories tree), onlyt to disappear the next time. Is there any explanation for this seemingly random behavior? Am I doing something wrong? many thanks for your time...PJDilip.

too bad. even just replicating the category tree? copying the parent category and the rest of its child categories?

main
category 1
sub 1
sub 2
sub 3

I'd like to copy category 1 and its children

main
category 1
sub 1
sub 2
sub 3
category 2
sub 1
sub 2
sub 3

so in a weekly basis, we could create the categories with a breeze.

oh well, hope you could have this as an upgrade next time. thanks

good day,

i am testing this nice product and it seems to work quite well for my requirements. however, there is something missing.

i need to be able to copy the category tree. further, it's better if in copying the tree, I can copy the gkb documents and topics inside as well.

I have a requirement to keep track of resolutions on findings in weekly log reviews. so I am categorizing by week, then by log report (say, 17 of them. windows active directory, linux successful root access etc etc.). so there is a maximum of 17 subcategories under 1 parent category which is the report week (say, 01 August 2010 - 07 August 2010).

so i hope you get it, that I need to replicate the tree every report week. it's gonna be tedious to keep on creating the tree every week.

thanks
